The album was the style of Blur resulting from the fall of Britpop his mantle earlier in favor of lo-fi recordings and alternative rock, apparently at the urging Graham Coxon. As a result, Blur was a success, mainly because it was shown that Blur could evolve beyond its roots of Britpop, in contrast to other Britpop bands like Oasis before, which critically disappointed with his 1997 release Be Here Now. The album of moving from the era of Britpop highlighted by this being the first album not to Stylorouge of Blur cover-art, and also not to have printed lyrics and chords in the notes, instead of having a composite picture of the band in the study divided into three panels.

I got my head checked
By a jumbo jet
It wasnt easy
But nothing is, no
When I feel heavy metal
And Im pins and Im needles
Well I lie and Im easy
All of the time but Im never sure when I need you
Pleased to meet you
I got my head done
When I was young
Its not my problem
Its not my problem
When I feel heavy metal
And Im pins and Im needles
Well I lie and Im easy
All of the time but Im never sure when I need you
Pleased to meet you
Yeah, yeah
Yeah, yeah
Yeah, yeah
Oh, yeah
By a jumbo jet
It wasnt easy
But nothing is, no
When I feel heavy metal
And Im pins and Im needles
Well I lie and Im easy
All of the time but Im never sure when I need you
Pleased to meet you
I got my head done
When I was young
Its not my problem
Its not my problem
When I feel heavy metal
And Im pins and Im needles
Well I lie and Im easy
All of the time but Im never sure when I need you
Pleased to meet you
Yeah, yeah
Yeah, yeah
Yeah, yeah
Oh, yeah
